26.11.05 - Case Study: Rebuilding 16 Years of a YouTube Channel with AI in One Night | MetAI Creator Studio
We tested our new service, MetAI Creator Studio, on Debitto in Japan, a YouTube channel with over 650 videos. Proposals for 500 videos, with new titles, descriptions, chapters and thumbnails, were ready in one night, and only approved changes were applied.

Since May 2010 I have run Debitto in Japan, a Spanish-language YouTube channel about life and culture in Japan. Sixteen years later it had 655 videos: vlogs from my first years in Japan, live streams from platforms that no longer exist, interviews, news commentary… all in completely different styles.
We used it as the first test case for MetAI's new service, MetAI Creator Studio, and rebuilt the whole channel with AI. Here is how we did it.
The problem: 16 years of disorganized content
The longer a channel runs, the more its old videos turn from an asset into a burden. Mine had all the usual problems:
- Titles that didn't say what the video was about. Episode numbers first ("Debitto in Japan 024 - …") or ALL CAPS. Neither viewers nor YouTube search could tell what the video covered.
- Descriptions full of broken links. A closed blog, streaming services that shut down, dead short URLs, repeated across hundreds of videos.
- Thumbnails with no consistency. Each period had a different design, so the videos didn't look like one channel.
- Outdated information. Visa rules, prices and other details that had changed since filming.
Fixing all of that by hand would have taken weeks.
What the AI did: it "watched" every video
MetAI Creator Studio works in four steps.
Step 1: Read the whole channel
Using the official YouTube API, it collects every video's title, description, tags and statistics, plus the playlists and channel settings.
Step 2: Understand what each video is about
It reads each video's transcript from its subtitles. Videos without subtitles were transcribed locally on our own GPU.
Step 3: Audit the channel
It lists everything that needs fixing: broken links, typos, meaningless titles, mixed categories, finished giveaways that were still public, and more.
Step 4: Propose improvements for every video
For each video it proposes:
- a title with the keyword first, so the topic is clear at a glance;
- a description with a short summary, chapters, related videos and up-to-date links;
- clean tags and category;
- a new thumbnail made from the video's own image in the channel's brand style (images are generated and cut out locally).
Proposals for 500 videos were ready in a single night. The 156 private videos were left untouched.

Titles that were just a number or a date now use the words people search for and say what the video is about.
What we didn't expect: an AI channel audit
Even more valuable than the SEO work was finding problems nobody had noticed for years:
- Exposed personal information in old video descriptions. We removed it on day one.
- Outdated or incorrect information: visa requirements, building heights and official figures that have changed since filming were flagged video by video. Videos from 2012–2016 now carry a note: "some information may have changed."
- Content that no longer fits the channel's image. The AI never deletes or hides anything on its own. It flags it, suggests a neutral title and tags, and leaves the decision to the channel owner.
A person always makes the final call
However good the AI is, the channel belongs to its creator. With MetAI Creator Studio, nothing is published without approval.
- Full backup: the channel's data is saved before any change, and one command restores everything.
- Review page: every proposal is shown side by side, before and after, and approved one by one with ✅ / ❌.
- Dry run: before anything is applied, you see exactly what will change.
Why the update takes a week
The proposals are ready in one night, but changes go to YouTube a batch at a time, day by day.
The official YouTube API has a free daily quota. By staying within it, from newest videos to oldest, external API costs are zero and the channel changes in an orderly way.
